Free “First Folio” Performance Today

A small CSIC ensemble will be performing today at the University of Iowa’s Main Library in honor of the Shakespeare First Folio exhibit.

University of Iowa Libraries is hosting the only stop in the state for “First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare,” a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio.

Countless composers have set William Shakespeare’s immortal words to music, from the Bard’s own lifetime right up to the present. This performance celebrates the music of the last four centuries with compositions that draw on texts from such works as The Tempest, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, and Measure for Measure.

Members of CSIC are pleased to honor the creative body of work represented in this monumental artifact. Join us today to celebrate this special occasion!

When: 12pm, Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016

Where: The University of Iowa Main Library, 125 W. Washington St., Iowa City

Cost: FREE and open to the public!
