Majesty of the Baroque

Our season will close in Baroque splendor with music for choir, soloists, and orchestra, by George Frederic Handel and his contemporary Georg Phillip Telemann. 2009 is the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death, and our concert will feature his majestic Coronation Anthems - Zadok the Priest, The King Shall Rejoice, My Heart is Inditing, and Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened.
The program will also include Telemann’s “grand motet” Deus judicium tuum, composed for the occasion of Telemann's visit to Paris in 1737 and written in the elegant, majestic style of the great French Baroque masters. Featured soloists are Christine Robertson, Michelle Crouch, Hilary Foster, Juan Mendoza and Stephen Swanson.
