This radiant concert surrounds listeners with the rich sonorities of voices, strings, and piano. Ola Gjeilo’s cinematic Luminous Night of the Soul evokes the sweeping harmonic colors of twenty-first century film music, while Dale Trumbore’s A Seed Marks Time offers an introspective, text-driven narrative that meditates on growth and impermanence. Lauridsen’s beloved Lux Aeterna crowns the evening, a modern masterwork that draws inspiration from the idiom of the Renaissance motet, as well as Fauré’s and Duruflé’s Requiems. Featuring Lynda Hakken on organ, the work radiates comfort and transcendence, blending organ and choral textures into a luminous tapestry of sound.
