A Musical Community
Chamber Singers of Iowa City is an auditioned choir known for high-level choral performance and a deep sense of community. Our singers range from their 20s to their 80s—from professionals to those rediscovering their love of singing. We come from many backgrounds, but we’re united by our shared commitment—to the music, to each other, and to the unique energy that only comes from singing in harmony.

Chamber Singers is a group united by musical excellence and camaraderie. If you share our passion for singing challenging repertoire and creating meaningful musical experiences, we invite you to audition!

Membership in Chamber Singers is by audition. This ensures that all members have the musical skills necessary to perform our repertoire to the best of our ability. Auditions typically assess vocal quality, pitch matching, music reading ability, and sight-reading skills. Please also come ready to sing a prepared piece or section of music (about 1 minute) unaccompanied. This can be as simple as “America the Beautiful” or another piece.
Auditions are typically 10-15 minutes and require advance sign up via this online form.

Rehearsals: Mondays, 7:00–9:30 pm (August–May)
Location: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City
Members are expected to participate in all rehearsals and concerts, unless special arrangements are made.

Black music folder or tablet device
Concert attire:
Tuxedo with black cummerbund and bow tie, OR
Dress and jacket ensemble, black hose/tights, AND
Black dress shoes
Dues: $185 annually (scores included); free for full-time students
Need-based support is available: Membership dues and concert attire expenses may be subsidized through generous donations. If cost is a concern, just ask—we’re happy to help.

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a typical rehearsal by reading through selected pieces with our singers. After the rehearsal, enjoy light refreshments and take the chance to meet and greet the singers and conductor. All interested singers are welcome!
