Finding Warmth and Light: CSIC’s Kindling Season Featured in the Press-Citizen
As the days grow shorter and colder, Chamber Singers of Iowa City (CSIC) invites you to find warmth and light in our upcoming Kindling concert season. We’re thrilled to share that the Iowa City Press-Citizen authored by Emily Hill, one of the CSIC members.
Kindling opens a fresh chapter in our 54th season, honoring the legacy that has shaped CSIC’s sound for generations while igniting new beginnings and celebrating the power of choral connection. Highlights of the program include Monteverdi’s deeply moving Lamento d’Arianna, the energetic Renaissance counterpoint of Morley’s Fyre, Fyre, and modern works by Jake Runestad and Elaine Hagenberg. Organ-accompanied pieces performed by Lynda Hakken provide luminous moments throughout, and Shawn Kirchner’s folk-inspired Bright Morning Stars brings the evening to a joyful close.

We’re grateful for this spotlight and can’t wait to share the beauty, intensity, and emotional range of our music with the Iowa City community. Whether you’re a longtime choral music lover or simply curious about what makes this season so special, Kindling promises an unforgettable experience.
