2018-2019 Season Announcement!

Welcome to Chamber Singers of Iowa City’s 48th season!
Our 47th was an eventful one, topped off with CSIC’s debut
in New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall. Because I was on
leave during the spring semester at the University of Iowa,
I had the privilege of hearing the choir under the baton of
guest conductor Bob Demaree in May, this time from the
audience, and was so proud of the quality of music-making
on display. As I’ve noticed so many times in the past, it is
amazing how people from all walks of life and experiences can
come together in unity to create something beautiful. In this
increasingly fractured age, that it still happens, year after year,
is a testament to what happens when music and community
come together.

This season promises more of the same! In November, we
return to UI’s Voxman Concert Hall to celebrate Leonard
Bernstein’s 100th anniversary of birth with a performance
of his Chichester Psalms. In December, members of CSIC
will present a program of stunning holiday music at Old
Brick. Our February concert will feature only the music of
women composers, bringing full attention, at long last, to the
important contributions of women to the field of choral music.
Finally, we unite with full orchestra in May for a concert of
masterworks by Vivaldi and C.P.E. Bach.

I hope you will join us for each of our concerts and witness for
yourself the power of music and community together.
